EXCITING OPPORTUNITY! The Erussi Institute of Science and Technology In Partnership With Kerali Foundation Offers scholarship program in West Nile
Nebbi, West Nile — The lingering effects of COVID-19, along with the lockdown from 2020 to 2023 and environmental issues like climate change, continue to create serious challenges in various sectors worldwide, especially in education.
Due to this, there has been a concerning increase in school dropout rates and early pregnancies in Northern Uganda, largely caused by resource shortages and the economic struggles families are facing.
Many parents across Uganda are finding it hard to cover basic school needs for their kids, resulting in a significant number of students leaving school before completing their education.
To tackle these issues, the Board of the Governing Council at the Erussi Institute of Science and Technology, in proud collaboration with the Kerali Foundation and under the excellent guidance of Professor Kerali Rupiny, the Executive Director, along with generous financial support from Matrin Hulla and his wife Dr. Grace Hulla from the UK, is stepping up to assist the community in equipping their children with essential skills.
The partner organizations are making a huge impact in the region by encouraging students to enroll in schools through the provision of bursaries and scholarships, which not only offer support but also serve as motivation and inspiration for those who have lost hope in continuing their education.
The institute is providing full scholarships and significant bursaries for students who will enroll for the August 2025 intake, with the goal of creating educational opportunities for talented yet financially challenged youth.
During the official announcement, Mr. Tom Okao, one of the Institutional Directors responsible for bursaries and academics, highlighted the institute’s commitment to developing local talent. He mentioned, "We have slots available for students pursuing diploma and certificate courses."
He also expressed his enthusiasm, saying, "We are genuinely impressed when we see children progressing in education, and we want to support that journey." As part of the scholarship initiative, interested students are only required to contribute Ugandan shillings 250,000 as a cost-sharing fee every semester, making higher education more attainable.
The school's dedicated administrator appealed to well-wishers and community leaders to join efforts in supporting families that cannot afford quality education. "Our initiative is designed to empower talented individuals who are committed to advancing in various professional fields. We want to give them an opportunity to study without being held back by financial constraints," he stated.
