I Don't Want To Hear It Again! Muhoozi Orders PLU Members to Stop Discussing Museveni's Endorsement of Him for President, Says Focus on Public Support

Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has directed members of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) to stop publicly discussing President Yoweri Museveni's recent endorsement of him for the country's presidency. Muhoozi wants the group to concentrate on mobilising support from ordinary Ugandans instead of debating the matter within political circles.

In a message posted on his X account, Muhoozi referred to a paper presented by his father during a recent National Resistance Movement (NRM) Central Executive Committee meeting, where Museveni endorsed him for the presidency. The development has attracted attention because of its implications for discussions about the country's future political leadership.

Muhoozi appeared unhappy with PLU members discussing the contents of the document, warning them against continuing to comment on an issue he believes should be handled by him and the President. He made it clear that he wanted the matter kept between the two of them rather than becoming a subject of public debate among his supporters.

“I hereby order all PLU members to stop discussing Mzee's paper delivered to the NRM CEC recently. Leave these matters to me and Mzee. Focus on the endorsements from the people,” Muhoozi posted.

The CDF's message also shifts attention towards public mobilisation, with PLU members being encouraged to seek endorsements from Ugandans rather than spend time discussing Museveni's decision. His instruction suggests that he wants supporters to focus on building public backing for his presidential ambitions.

Museveni's endorsement at the NRM CEC meeting has generated political discussion, particularly because Muhoozi is his son and currently serves as the country's Chief of Defence Forces. The development has brought renewed attention to questions surrounding the NRM's future leadership and the political role Muhoozi could play.

The latest directive indicates that Muhoozi wants to personally manage conversations surrounding his father's endorsement, while allowing PLU members to concentrate on popular support. He did not provide further details about the discussions he wants kept between himself and Museveni.

The message is expected to generate further debate among political observers and Ugandans interested in the country's succession politics, especially as PLU members continue their mobilisation activities and the discussion surrounding Museveni's endorsement of his son attracts public attention.
