The Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Apac has announced that two hospital staff members have been taken into custody as part of an ongoing investigation into the storage and management of medical supplies provided to Apac Hospital.

This development follows reports and assessments indicating that some medical supplies, including maternal kits and other essential items, were left exposed to weather conditions such as rain and sunlight. These concerns highlight the importance of proper handling and storage of medical resources, which are critical for effective health service delivery and community well-being.

Addressing the media, Jonal Okot, the Assistant RDC of Apac, confirmed that authorities are committed to transparency and accountability. “On behalf of the RDC, I have ordered an immediate investigation into the matter. The individuals involved are currently in police custody to facilitate this process,” he stated. He emphasized that government workers are expected to adhere to established protocols and uphold the trust placed in them by the community.

The two staff members are reported to work in the store department at Apac Hospital. The RDC reiterated the government’s dedication to ensuring responsible management of public resources and improving health service delivery. Authorities have assured the public that the investigation aims to identify any gaps or misconduct, with the goal of strengthening health system accountability and ensuring community health needs are met.

The detained staff members are being held at Apac Central Police Station, and officials have assured that appropriate legal procedures will be followed once the investigation concludes.

While efforts to obtain further comments from district health authorities were unsuccessful at the time of this report, officials have called for patience and cooperation from the community during this process. They also emphasized the importance of working together to address challenges and enhance health services for all.

The government remains committed to fostering trust, accountability, and collaboration among health workers, stakeholders, and the community to ensure health services are delivered responsibly and effectively.
