We Are Sorry For The Countrywide Power Blackouts! UEDCL Officials Visit Hajjat Namyalo's Office Following Complaints Over Unstable and Expensive Electricity
Officials from Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) have visited the office of the NRM National Treasurer, Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo, following her complaints about unreliable and expensive electricity services.
The visit came after Namyalo raised concerns over frequent power interruptions and the high cost of electricity, issues that have continued to frustrate households, businesses and other electricity consumers across the country.
During the engagement, UEDCL officials had an opportunity to listen to the concerns raised and explain the challenges surrounding electricity distribution. The discussions also provided an opportunity for the company to respond to questions about the quality and affordability of its services.
Namyalo's complaints reflect frustrations shared by many Ugandans who depend on a stable electricity supply to run businesses, operate machinery and carry out daily activities. Frequent outages can disrupt business operations, increase expenses and affect productivity.
The cost of electricity has also remained a major concern, with consumers questioning whether the current tariffs are affordable, particularly for small businesses and ordinary households struggling with rising living expenses.
UEDCL officials used the visit to explain their position on the concerns raised and discuss issues affecting electricity supply. The engagement is expected to bring more attention to the challenges faced by consumers who want reliable power without having to spend excessively.
The meeting comes at a time when electricity reliability and affordability remain important public concerns, with many Ugandans expecting improvements in service delivery from the companies responsible for distributing power.
However, consumers will be keen to see whether the engagement leads to practical solutions, particularly regarding frequent outages, billing concerns and the overall cost of electricity. Stable and affordable power remains essential for businesses, homes and Uganda's wider economic development.
