PLU Will Protect You & Your Investments- Gen Muhoozi Assures Coffee Investor Tugume

Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has assured coffee investor Nelson Tugume that the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) will support and protect him together with his investments after the businessman declared support for Muhoozi’s 2031 presidential ambitions.

Tugume, the Chief Executive Officer of Inspire Africa Coffee Park, signed the PLU endorsement book during a meeting at the movement’s offices in Naguru, Kampala, formally expressing his support for Muhoozi.

Welcoming Tugume into PLU, Gen. Muhoozi said the businessman should feel confident that the movement would stand with him and his investments.

“I welcome Dr Nelson Tugume to the mighty PLU. He can feel confident that the people’s movement will protect him and his investments,” Muhoozi said.

Tugume explained that his decision to support Muhoozi was influenced by the importance of stability, confidence and a predictable environment for investors and businesses.

“Investment follows confidence,” Tugume said, adding that peace, good governance and a stable operating environment are important for businesses planning for the future.

The businessman’s interests are mainly focused on the coffee sector through Inspire Africa Coffee Park, which works on coffee processing, branding and promoting Ugandan coffee products.

The company has been involved in efforts to move Uganda’s coffee industry beyond exporting raw beans by promoting value addition and creating finished products for wider markets.

Tugume’s endorsement has brought private-sector concerns about investment, market access and business growth into discussions surrounding Muhoozi’s 2031 political activities.

The engagement comes as PLU continues mobilising support for Gen. Muhoozi ahead of the 2031 presidential race, with different individuals signing endorsement books and publicly expressing their positions.

For investors and entrepreneurs, Tugume’s message highlighted the importance of a stable business environment, while Muhoozi’s response focused on PLU’s commitment to supporting businesses and investments.
