On Saturday, at Akia Primary School in Lira City, a large and enthusiastic crowd of residents—primarily women and youth—gathered to publicly denounce politics driven by propaganda and hatred which is they accused Dr. Aceng rival of trading. Instead, they expressed their unwavering support for Health Minister Dr. Imat Aceng as their preferred candidate for the Member of Parliament seat for the 2026-2031 term.
The community reaffirmed their loyalty to President Yoweri Museveni, assuring Minister Aceng that their support for him remains solid. They pledged to deliver a block vote for both President Museveni and Dr. Aceng in the forthcoming 2026 elections, emphasizing their commitment to development and stability.
“ We cannot be deceived; we are not ready to sacrifice you to politics of propaganda. We know the truth, and the truth shall set us free,” declared Betty Àkello from Akia. She also highlighted that despite some leaders criticizing the development at Lira Regional Referral Hospital, the services provided are vital, as many residents are benefiting from quality healthcare.
Residents lauded Dr. Aceng for her caring and honest leadership, praising her for consistently fulfilling her promises to the community. As part of her development initiatives, she is distributing basins and soap to every household in Lira City to promote hygiene and improve domestic living standards.
Lira City East Deputy Resident City Commissioner (RCC) Steven Odongo also addressed the gathering, urging residents to continue supporting leaders like Imat Aceng who are committed to development. He emphasized that security agencies are working tirelessly to ensure peace and unity within the community.
In her speech, Dr. Aceng expressed heartfelt gratitude to the residents for their unwavering support. She assured them that she will continue to serve and support their needs. She also pledged to address critical local issues raised during the event, including the challenges of access to clean water and reliable electricity, promising to work closely with relevant authorities to find sustainable solutions.
The community’s rallying behind Dr. Aceng and President Museveni underscores their desire for continued progress, development, and unity in Lira.
