Joy Beyond the Classroom: Brooks Pre-School,Lira City Celebrates Young Stars with Birthday Party and World Cup-Inspired Football Festival

LIRA CITY, Uganda — Cheers, songs, laughter, and the excitement of children's football filled the playground at Brooks Pre-School based in Lira as the school celebrated pupils born in May and June during a colourful birthday party that highlighted its commitment to nurturing confident, healthy, and happy learners.
The celebration brought together pupils, teachers, parents, and guardians for a memorable day of cake cutting, music, dancing, games, and sporting activities designed to promote holistic child development.
One of the major attractions was a friendly football match inspired by the ongoing FIFA World Cup in the United States. Dressed in colourful sportswear, the young learners eagerly took to the field, displaying teamwork, determination, and sportsmanship while enjoying the beautiful game.
School administrators said the event was organized not only to celebrate birthdays but also to help children develop essential life skills, including confidence, communication, teamwork, discipline, and respect for others.
"Our goal is to raise children who are academically competent, emotionally resilient, and socially responsible," Ms. Sandra Adongo the school's teachers said. "When children play together, celebrate together, and learn together, they build confidence and friendships that support their growth both inside and outside the classroom."
The lead teacher added that birthday celebrations make every child feel valued and appreciated while creating lasting memories during their early years of education.
Parents who attended the event praised the school for creating a caring and child-friendly environment that prioritizes the well-being of every learner.
"As a parent, I am happy to see my child learning in such a joyful environment," said one parent. "The teachers treat every child with love and patience, and activities like these help children develop confidence and social skills while making learning enjoyable."
Another parent noted that exposing children to football and other co-curricular activities helps them discover their talents at an early age.
"Education is more than books," the parent said. "Children also need opportunities to play, interact, and express themselves. Brooks Pre-School is giving them that opportunity."
Throughout the celebration, children enthusiastically participated in games, sang birthday songs, cut cakes, and received gifts, creating an atmosphere filled with smiles and excitement.
Education experts have long emphasized that play-based learning and co-curricular activities are essential for developing creativity, leadership, emotional intelligence, and problem-solving skills among young children.
Brooks Pre-School lira continues to strengthen its reputation as one of Lira City's leading early childhood learning centres by combining quality education with activities that nurture children's talents, character, and confidence.
As the celebrations came to an end, the laughter of the young learners served as a reminder that education begins not only in the classroom but also through moments of joy, friendship, discovery, and play.
