Tooro Prime Minister Warns Subjects Against Taking Kingdom Disputes To Social Media

Tooro Kingdom Prime Minister Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire has urged kingdom subjects to stop exposing internal disagreements on social media, calling for restraint and respect for the dignity of the institution.

Rwomiire made the call in a statement in which he appealed to the people of Tooro to avoid heated narratives and content that could embarrass the kingdom. He urged subjects to consider the kind of kingdom they want to build during what he described as a difficult period.

The Prime Minister warned that actions aimed at attacking or undermining the institution could have wider consequences. He compared the situation to throwing away a baby together with dirty water, saying people should not allow disagreements to damage the kingdom they claim to love.

Rwomiire reminded Tooro subjects that the kingdom’s traditions emphasise dignity, restraint and respect. He encouraged the people to uphold these values and maintain discipline and decorum even when faced with disagreements.

The Premier also called for self-regulation on social media, urging subjects to share less content that could embarrass the institution, resist heated narratives, comment less, listen more and avoid escalating tensions.

He further appealed to people to stop viewing one another as opposing sides, stressing that the interests and unity of Tooro should come before personal disagreements. “We are not opposing teams. There is only one team: Team Tooro,” he stated.

Rwomiire cautioned against allowing social media popularity, personal differences and online arguments to weaken the kingdom’s culture, values and customs. He urged subjects not to sacrifice long-standing traditions for social media attention.

The Prime Minister also asked people to focus on the future and ensure that the current period is remembered for wisdom and restraint rather than conflict. He said the people had a responsibility to protect the reputation and dignity of the kingdom.

Rwomiire called on kingdom subjects to rally behind the new King and unite around the upcoming Kujumura Empango ceremony scheduled for 29 September. He urged everyone to direct their efforts towards making the event successful.

He also advised subjects to stop speculating about positions and titles within the kingdom, saying such decisions belong to the new King and will be made at the appropriate time. He asked the people to give the King space and respect the Crown.
