KOLE, UGANDA — Former Kole District Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Judith Alyek, has launched an intensive grassroots mobilization drive for the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) in Kole District. This follows the successful PLU Lango sub-region launch and endorsement event for Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba on Sunday.

The mobilization push comes right after the PLU event held at the Mayor’s Garden in Lira City on October 4, 2026. The launch brought together regional political leaders, National Resistance Movement (NRM) officials, PLU representatives, and thousands of supporters.

A Strategic Move for Kole District

Alyek, who served two terms as the Kole District Woman MP and previously chaired the influential Lango Parliamentary Group, is now shifting her focus to building structures at the grassroots level. Given her extensive parliamentary record and established leadership network, her active involvement is expected to significantly boost PLU’s footprint in Kole.

The former legislator's structural drive aligns with PLU's intensified efforts to solidify its presence in the Lango sub-region ahead of the 2031 general elections.

Speaking to the press after receiving the official PLU registration booklet, Alyek commended the people of Lango for backing Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

"As leaders, our next step is to organize an official Kole District launch to formally begin registering new members," Alyek stated.

Regional Leaders Back the Movement

The landmark Lira event was attended by senior PLU officials, including Executive Secretary Hon. Daudi Kabanda and Hon. Michael Mawanda, alongside various members of parliament.

Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero, the Lira City Woman MP, Government Chief Whip, and PLU Coordinator for the Lango Sub-region, clarified the group's vision. She emphasized that PLU is not a political party but a civic pressure group aimed at steering development, fighting corruption, and amplifying economic initiatives.

Supporting this stance, the NRM Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda, Hon. Denis Hamson Obua, reassured supporters of the strong bond between the ruling party and the pressure group.

“Our message is that NRM and PLU tuko pamoja (we are together). It is President Museveni now, and Gen. Muhoozi next,” Obua said, noting that the movement originally sparked during Gen. Muhoozi’s 48th birthday celebrations at Lugogo on April 23, 2022.

With Alyek taking the lead in Kole, PLU is rapidly transitioning its high-profile regional launches into a robust, village-by-village membership recruitment campaign.
