Update! Edward Rukidi Nyabongo I's Wife To Become Queen Of Tooro Even When She Is From Outside The Kingdom

Rebecca Amoding, the wife of Tooro’s King-elect Edward Rukidi Nyabongo I, is expected to become the Queen of Tooro when her husband officially takes the throne, despite being from outside the kingdom.
According to Rev. Fr. Dr. Charles Oyo, spokesperson for the Babiito Royal Clan, Amoding’s marriage to the King-elect does not violate Tooro customs. He explained that her being Iteso does not prevent her from becoming the King’s wife and Queen.
“She will be like any other wife of the king,” Fr. Oyo said during a press conference in Kampala on Thursday, according to reports by The Observer.
However, while Amoding will assume the position of Queen, questions surrounding whether her children can eventually inherit the Tooro throne remain a subject of discussion within the kingdom.
Fr. Oyo explained that under the traditional succession rules, eligibility to become an Omukama is connected to the maternal clan of the child. He said an heir must be born to a mother belonging to one of the recognised clans of Tooro. The Babiito spokesperson rejected suggestions that Amoding would necessarily have to be.
