Kiswahili Is A Must; Gen Muhoozi Issues New Directive To All Media Houses In Uganda

Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has called on media houses across Uganda to promote the use of Kiswahili in their programming and content.

Muhoozi made the remarks while thanking the Uganda Media Centre for what he described as implementing his directive on promoting Kiswahili.

In his message, the General encouraged other media organisations in the country to follow the example of the Uganda Media Centre.

He said Kiswahili should receive greater attention in Uganda, describing it as an important language for communication and regional integration.

“Thank you @UgandaMediaCent for implementing my directive on promoting Kiswahili,” Muhoozi said.

He went on to issue a wider call to media houses, saying all of them should follow the same approach and promote Kiswahili through their platforms.

The call could see more media organisations increasing Kiswahili content in their broadcasts, publications and other forms of communication.

Muhoozi’s remarks have therefore placed renewed attention on the promotion of Kiswahili in Uganda and its growing role in communication across the region.
