Gen Muhoozi Speaks! When Old Men Like Otafiire Refuse To Respect Us They Become Nuisances

Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has issued another strong statement against Minister of Water and Environment Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Kahinda Otafiire amid their escalating public disagreement.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Muhoozi accused the veteran politician of showing disrespect and threatened to send him to an old people's home.

"When old men like Otafiire refuse to respect us they become nuisances. We will send them to an old people's home," Muhoozi posted.

The latest remarks come amid an ongoing dispute sparked by comments Otafiire reportedly made in Parliament and during a public lecture at Valley University of Science and Technology in Bushenyi.

Muhoozi had earlier demanded a public apology from Otafiire, initially giving him three days to respond before escalating his threats and announcing that the minister would be arrested.

The disagreement reportedly started after Otafiire cautioned that Uganda had a problem if a military general preferred violence. Although he did not directly mention Muhoozi, the CDF appeared to take the remarks personally.

The confrontation has attracted reactions from other political figures, including Kasambya County MP David Kabanda, who made remarks about Otafiire, and the minister's son, Che Otafiire, who responded with a warning in Russian translated as "Big Mistake!"

Muhoozi's latest statement has added another chapter to the public exchange, with attention focused on whether the two senior figures will find a way to resolve their disagreement or continue trading accusations and threats.
