Rest In Peace! Pastor Bugingo's Father Dies At The Age Of 108
Pastor Aloysius Bugingo, the founder and senior pastor of House of Prayer Ministries International, is mourning the death of his father, Aloyzi Bujjingo, who passed away at the age of 108.
The death of Bujjingo was announced by Salt TV on Thursday, October 15. According to the station, the deceased was born in 1918, having lived through more than a century of major changes in Uganda and beyond.
“Pastor Aloysious Bujjingo’s Father has gone to be with the Lord,” Salt TV announced, sharing the sad news with its audience. However, the announcement did not reveal the cause or place of death.
Burial arrangements had not been communicated by the time of the announcement, leaving many details surrounding the family's loss unclear.
Pastor Bugingo first introduced his parents to his congregation in October 2019 during an Independence prayer night held at Namboole Stadium. At the event, he shared details about his upbringing and his relationship with his parents.
Bugingo revealed that his parents had lived in Rwanda and explained that he was born in Masaka, Uganda, before remaining with relatives when his parents returned to Rwanda. He spent much of his childhood under the care of his maternal grandparents and other relatives.
The pastor has previously spoken about the difficult experiences he faced while growing up, including poverty, frequent childhood illnesses, interrupted education and mistreatment while living with relatives. He eventually left for Kampala, where he began working and looking for opportunities to support himself.
Despite the challenges of his early life, Bugingo went on to build a career in preaching and broadcasting. He leads House of Prayer Ministries International at Canaan Land in Makerere Kikoni and established Salt FM and Salt TV. His father's death marks a painful moment for the pastor and his family as they mourn a man who lived to the remarkable age of 108.
