Pakistan Association Lira Uganda Comfirms Mian Muhammad Nasir as Legitimate President, Rejected Misleading Leadership Claims

LIRA CITY — The leadership of the Pakistan Association Lira Uganda has strongly dismissed misleading claims circulating on social media identifying Atique Nawaz as the association’s president. The organization has officially reaffirmed that Mian Muhammad Nasir is the sole recognized and legitimate head of the association.

In a public clarification, the association's executive leadership stated that any reports naming Atique Nawaz as president are completely false and do not reflect the established governance of the organization. They urged members of the Pakistani community and the general public to disregard social media rumors and rely strictly on official communications for accurate information.

Furthermore, the national body, Pakistan Association Uganda, has intervened to clarify the situation. Speaking to the media, representatives confirmed that they recognize the Pakistan Association Lira Uganda as its official, fully functional branch operating in the Lango Sub-region under its current established structure. The national body explicitly stated that they no longer recognize Atique Nawaz in any leadership capacity.

The leadership maintained that all operations must continue under the guidance of President Mian Muhammad Nasir, calling on all members to respect the official leadership structures and address grievances through appropriate institutional channels rather than public misinformation.

Amidst the controversy, the association emphasized that transparency, unity, and open dialogue are vital to prevent malicious rumors from disrupting the community's progress. The Pakistani community plays a significant role in Lira City’s commercial and social landscape, making clear communication essential for maintaining constructive relationships internally and with the wider Ugandan public.

The declaration comes right after the association demonstrated its commitment to local partnership. On Uganda's 64th Independence Day, the association hosted a high-profile dinner for security officials, political leaders, and key stakeholders at their main office near Clement Mall in Lira City to celebrate the national milestone and foster peaceful coexistence.
