Maybe I’ll Make Pastors Fall Down Instead- Gen Muhoozi Says No Preacher Can Make Him Fall Down

General Muhoozi Kainerugaba has sparked debate after making strong remarks against pastors who make believers fall to the ground during prayer sessions, questioning whether the practice is genuinely connected to the power of God.

In a post shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, the Chief of Defence Forces expressed his disagreement with the practice, insisting that no pastor could make him fall during prayers. His remarks have attracted attention from people with different views about the role of spiritual manifestations in churches.

“No pastor can make me fall down. Maybe, I'll make them fall down. God is not interested in making people fall down. That is rubbish,” Muhoozi wrote.

His comments refer to a practice seen in some churches where pastors pray for believers who subsequently fall to the ground. Some religious leaders describe these experiences as manifestations of the Holy Spirit, while their followers may interpret them as signs of divine power or a spiritual encounter.

However, the practice has also faced criticism from people who question whether falling during prayer should automatically be regarded as evidence of God's presence. Muhoozi's remarks appear to challenge this belief, suggesting that such actions should not be treated as proof of spiritual authority.

The general's statement could trigger mixed reactions among Christians, particularly those who attend churches where falling during prayer is common. While some may agree with his criticism, others may defend the practice as part of their religious experiences and understanding of faith.

The controversy also raises broader questions about the conduct of religious leaders and how spiritual experiences are presented to congregations. Different churches have different approaches to worship, with some placing emphasis on spiritual manifestations while others focus on preaching, repentance, prayer and personal transformation.

Although Muhoozi expressed his position in strong terms, his comments represent his personal opinion and do not mean that all pastors encourage or practise making people fall during prayers. Nevertheless, his statement has added to the ongoing discussion about faith, spiritual authority and the meaning of physical reactions during religious services.
