TRENDING IN UG : DAF School of Nursing and Midwifery-Kole Maintains Bursary Scheme As July 2026 Intake Nears
KOLE DISTRICT, UGANDA– DAF School of Nursing and Midwifery in Kole District has reaffirmed its commitment to providing affordable medical education through its bursary programme as preparations for the July 2026 intake gather momentum.
Speaking to this publication via telephone, the Chairperson of the Board of Governors, Dr. Francis Olwa, confirmed that the institution has maintained its bursary arrangement to enable more students to pursue careers in the health sector.
According to Dr. Olwa, the decision was reached after the institution realized that many prospective students were unable to join the January 2026 intake due to financial constraints.
“We discovered that a significant number of students missed the previous intake because they could not raise the required tuition fees in time. As an institution committed to transforming lives through education, we agreed to extend the bursary programme to the upcoming intakes so that more young people can benefit,” Dr. Olwa said.
Under the bursary-supported tuition arrangement, newly admitted students will pay only UGX 1,625,000 for their studies, excluding personal requirements. The initiative is aimed at reducing the financial burden on families while increasing access to professional medical training.
However, in the remaining semesters, the tuition fee is reduced to UGX 1,035,000 per semester up to the final semester. This fee is inclusive of assessment fees payable under Uganda Health Professionals Assessment Board (UHPAB) and hospital attachment costs.
Dr. Olwa appealed to parents, guardians, and students from all regions of Uganda to seize the opportunity and enroll for the July 2026 intake.
“This is a life-changing opportunity for young people who wish to join the medical profession. We encourage communities across the country to take advantage of this bursary programme and secure a brighter future,” he added.
Meanwhile, Ms. Alice Akite, Director in Charge of Admissions and Academics, revealed that the institution has expanded its admission channels to make enrollment easier for applicants from different parts of the country.
She explained that DAF School of Nursing and Midwifery has established admission centres and partnerships with community organizations to bring services closer to prospective students.
“For applicants in Eastern Uganda, especially members of the Kumum community, admissions can be accessed through the Kumum Cultural Heritage offices. Those from Lango can also apply through the Lango Cultural Bursary Programme if they are unable to physically travel to the school,” Ms. Akite said.
She emphasized that the institution remains committed to ensuring that deserving students are not denied an opportunity to pursue nursing and midwifery education because of distance or financial challenges.
DAF School of Nursing and Midwifery is a registered private health training institution in Northern Uganda. Over the years, the school has earned recognition for its outstanding performance in national examinations conducted by the Uganda Health Professionals Assessment Board (UHPAB) and for producing competent healthcare professionals serving in various health facilities across the country.
Education stakeholders have continued to encourage young people to pursue health-related courses, noting that Uganda and the region still require more qualified nurses and midwives to strengthen healthcare service delivery.
