UCI School of Nursing and Midwifery, Lira, Partners with UCI Midwive's Friends UK Chapter to Offer Full Bursaries to Top UCE Students

Lira, Uganda – In a groundbreaking move to promote academic excellence and bolster healthcare education, the UCI School of Nursing and Midwifery in Lira has announced a full bursary program for the best Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) students. 

This initiative is made possible through a partnership with the UCI Midwives Friends UK Chapter, a UK-based organization dedicated to supporting midwifery education in Uganda.

The bursary program, which covers tuition, accommodation, and other academic expenses, is designed to attract and nurture top-performing students who aspire to pursue careers in nursing and midwifery. 

The initiative underscores the institution's commitment to addressing the critical shortage of skilled healthcare professionals in Uganda, particularly in rural areas.

A Partnership for Progress, the collaboration between the UCI School of Nursing and Midwifery and the UCI Midwive's Friends UK Chapter reflects a shared vision of empowering young Ugandans through education. 

The UK chapter, which has been actively involved in supporting midwifery training in Uganda, will provide the necessary funding to ensure that deserving students have access to quality education without financial barriers.

Mr. Sam Omara, the Director of the UCI School of Nursing and Midwifery, expressed his gratitude for the partnership, stating, "This bursary program is a game-changer for our institution and for the communities we serve.

 By investing in the education of our brightest students, we are not only transforming their lives but also strengthening the healthcare system in Uganda."

Eligibility and Application Process

To be eligible for the bursary, students must have excelled in their UCE examinations with aggregate 8 to 25 demonstrated leadership potential, and expressed a strong interest in pursuing a career in nursing or midwifery.

 Applicants will undergo a rigorous selection process, including interviews and assessments, to ensure that the most deserving candidates are chosen.

The application window for the bursary program is now open, interested students are encouraged to apply through the UCI School of Nursing and Midwifery's official at Gwenabara Campus.
