No Sleep, No Corruption: Alebtong ARDC JIMMY OKELLO Urges PDM, UWEP, YLP Loan Beneficiaries to Follow Government Guidelines & Repay The Loan

ALEBTONG DISTRICT, UGANDA– The Assistant Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Alebtong District, Jimmy Okello, has called on beneficiaries of various government wealth-creation programs to strictly adhere to the guidelines governing the initiatives in order to ensure their sustainability and continued support from the government.

Speaking during a meeting with beneficiaries of the Youth Livelihood Programme (YLP), Uganda Women Entrepreneurship Programme (UWEP), and Parish Development Model (PDM) funds on Monday this week at Angetta Sub-county in Ajuri, Okello emphasized the importance of accountability, transparency, and timely repayment of revolving funds.

He warned that beneficiaries who misuse government funds or deliberately fail to comply with the program guidelines risk facing legal action under the government's renewed anti-corruption and accountability campaign.

"The government under President Yoweri Museveni is committed to ensuring that public resources reach the intended beneficiaries and are used for their intended purposes. Those who choose to abuse these opportunities or default without justification will be held accountable according to the law," Okello said.

The Assistant RDC urged beneficiaries to work closely with Community Development Officers (CDOs) in their respective sub-counties and seek guidance whenever necessary.

"I appeal to all beneficiaries to cooperate with Community Development Officers and ensure that the loans received from government programs are utilized effectively and repaid as stipulated in the guidelines. This will enable more Ugandans to benefit from the revolving funds," he added.

Okello also expressed concern over reports that some beneficiaries of the Youth Livelihood Programme had allegedly ignored advice from technical officers and even blacklisted Community Development Officers after receiving the funds.

"It is unfortunate that some beneficiaries have turned against the very officers who helped them access these government programs. Such actions undermine the objectives of the initiatives and will not be tolerated. Those involved will be identified and dealt with in accordance with the laws of Uganda," he warned.

He further encouraged youth and women groups to invest the funds in productive enterprises capable of improving household incomes, creating employment opportunities, and contributing to local economic development.

In attendance were Office of the RDC, DISO, DCDO, senior CDO who is the focal person for UWEP, YLP at the District, Sub county stakehol and beneficiaries

Government programs such as the Youth Livelihood Programme, Uganda Women Entrepreneurship Programme, and the Parish Development Model were established to fight poverty, promote financial inclusion, and improve the livelihoods of vulnerable communities across the country.
