A young woman identified as Dianah from Mbale has died by suicide following reports of prolonged emotional distress linked to alleged infidelity involving her boyfriend, Sharif, and her close friend Haffie.

According to reports, Dianah allegedly received information that Sharif was secretly involved with Haffie, a woman she considered her best friend. The reports further alleged that the two travelled to Kampala and stayed in hotels together, claims that have since been strongly disputed by Haffie.

Dianah was reportedly deeply affected by the alleged betrayal and had been struggling emotionally for several months. Her death has left relatives, friends and residents in shock, particularly because she was a mother of two young daughters.

Tension reportedly increased during Dianah’s burial, where Sharif faced angry mourners who accused him of contributing to her distress and death. Reports indicate that police officers were deployed to protect him as emotions among mourners grew.

The situation reportedly became tense after some mourners overwhelmed the security around Sharif, forcing him to leave the area. He allegedly escaped from the angry crowd using a boda-boda as police attempted to prevent the situation from becoming violent.

Meanwhile, Haffie has denied allegations that she was romantically involved with Sharif or that she contributed to Dianah’s emotional distress. She said she never travelled to Kampala with Sharif as alleged and explained that during trips to Marriott Hotel, she was accompanied by her female friends.

Haffie also said she was deeply saddened by the death of Dianah, whom she described as a close friend with whom she had grown up. She reportedly stayed away from the burial ceremony after receiving threats from people who blamed her for the tragedy.

The allegations surrounding Dianah’s death have continued to attract attention in Mbale, with conflicting accounts emerging about her relationship with Sharif and Haffie.
