CELEBRATIONS AS O OMODO OMODO IS DECLARED NRM CANDIDATE FOR 2026 ELECTIONS- THE LUO NATIVES

Excitement and jubilation swept across Oyam as Willy Omodo-Omodo has officially secured the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party flag for the Oyam North constituency Member of Parliament (MP) seat ahead of the 2026 general elections.

Omodo, a long-time mobiliser within the ruling party, emerged victorious in the highly contested party primaries held over the week.

 His endorsement by the NRM sets the stage for what many are predicting to be a fiercely competitive race in the upcoming national polls.

Supporters poured into the streets of Oyam Town and surrounding areas, waving party flags and chanting slogans in support of Omodo, whose campaign has focused on youth empowerment, agricultural transformation, and improved service delivery.

In his victory speech, Omodo thanked the NRM electoral commission and the people of Oyam North for their trust and pledged to represent their interests with integrity and commitment and ensure the party secure victory against opposition. 

 “This victory is not mine alone. It belongs to every farmer, every youth, every mother who wants to see Oyam North rise to its full potential,” Omodo said amidst cheers from his supporters.

Party leaders in Lango Sub-region hailed the outcome, describing Omodo as a unifying figure with a proven track record of public service and grassroots mobilisation.

NRM district chairperson, Bosco Onyik Ogwal said the party is confident in Omodo’s ability to win the seat for the ruling party in 2026.

 “His win reflects the will of the people and the strength of the NRM in Oyam. We are ready to consolidate our support and ensure victory in the general election,” the chairperson said.

With the party flag now in hand, Omodo is expected to intensify his campaign across the constituency, focusing on key issues such as infrastructure, education, and economic empowerment.

As Oyam North braces for the political season, all eyes are now on how Omodo will navigate the road to Parliament — with expectations running high and the electorate hopeful for change.
