LIRA DISTRICT, Uganda — President Yoweri Museveni has thanked the people of Erute South Constituency in Lira District and the wider Lango Sub-region for electing his longtime political ally, Hon. Sam Engola, to Parliament.

The President's congratulatory message was delivered on his behalf by Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja during celebrations marking Engola's electoral victory on Saturday at Olilo Primary School in Itek Sub-county, Lira District.

Nabbanja said she remains grateful for Engola's support and praised the people of Lango for their continued confidence in his leadership.

Addressing the gathering, Engola thanked the people of Erute South for the victory qand for the trust they have placed in him.

"I am grateful to the people of Erute South for giving me another opportunity to serve," Engola said.

He pledged to use his position as Minister for Disaster Preparedness and Refugees to contribute to national development while continuing to advocate for the needs of his constituency.

As part of his immediate commitments, Engola announced that he would next week renovate a classroom block at Olilo Primary School and provide school uniforms for some pupils as a contribution towards improving education in the area.

The celebration attracted government officials, political leaders, including Nrm Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda Hon. DENIS HAMSON OBUA, Lango MPs and Different Ministers supporters, and residents from across Erute South, who gathered to congratulate Engola on both his parliamentary victory and ministerial appointment.
