Moroto County– An exclusive opinion poll has revealed that the incumbent Member of Parliament for Moroto, Samuel Okwir Odwee, continues to command a significant lead in the ongoing NRM party primaries, reaffirming his strong political standing within the constituency.
The survey, conducted among grassroots NRM party members and key community stakeholders, highlights Odwee’s widespread popularity and the trust voters have placed in his leadership. As the NRM primary elections draw closer, political observers are closely watching Moroto, where Odwee appears poised to retain his spot as the party’s flagbearer in the upcoming general elections.
The poll was carried out across several strategic areas, including Apala, Abia, Aloi Town Council, Akura, and Aloi Subcounty. A large majority of respondents expressed their intention to vote for Okwir, pointing to his tangible contributions to community development, especially in sectors such as healthcare, education, and water access.
"What Okwir has done for our community surpasses what any of his opponents have achieved," said Gloria Adongo, a resident of Apala. "He has brought real change, particularly in healthcare and clean water, which remain critical to our development."
George Ogwang, another resident, echoed these sentiments. “Among all the candidates in the NRM race, Okwir stands out for his seniority and experience. He’s a man of integrity and accountability—qualities we need in a leader,” Ogwang noted.
The poll results placed Sam Ogwal in second position, followed by Dr. Oledo in third, while Samuel George Ogwang trailed in fourth place. Despite growing interest in the race, none of the challengers have matched Odwee’s widespread grassroots appeal or proven track record.
With the NRM primaries just around the corner, Samuel Okwir Odwee's continued lead sends a strong signal about the loyalty he commands within his constituency. Supporters believe his development-oriented agenda and consistent engagement with the community give him a distinct advantage as the electoral process unfolds.
As the race intensifies, the question now is whether his rivals can close the gap—or if Odwee will once again emerge as the people's choice in Moroto.
Engineer Samuel Okwir Odwee is now seeking for his third term in Parliament, he is known for promoting health through organising health camp for women, most of the women in the area have testified his goodness.
