Today marks exactly one year when president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni trusted her loyal carder,a dedicated mobiliser and a patriot Proscovia Ayo Otyek and installed her as the Assistant Resident disrict Commissioner incharge of Lira district.

In a zenzee's slang "this was happiness Pro-max" because commissioner Ayo's appointment came on 20th April -on her birthday.

Friends, acquaintances from all walk of lives and across the political divide have been sending their best happy birthday wishes to Proscovia Ayo on this special day.

“Congratulations Proscovia on being even more experienced. I’m not sure what you learned this year, but every experience transforms us into the people we are today. Happy birthday" Carole Atino,a resident of Ogur in Lira district posted on her X ( formerly twitter)

Paul Okello,an a economist based in Bar was also among friends who sent birthday wishes to commissioner Ayoo and he wrote "words alone are not enough to express how happy I am you are celebrating another year of your life!"

When contacted by this publication,Ayo couldn't hide her bliss,happiness and excitement.

'' first of all I am really happy and greatfull to God for the journey thus far he has guided and brought me,but most importantly 20th April is nostalgic because on this day last year is when president Museveni granted me the latitude to serve in his office as an assistant Resident district commissioner,an assignment that I am humbly discharging with honesty, transparency and dedication" Ayoo said while beaming with smiles of a new born baby.

Asked about her one year experience of service as an ARDC in Lira,Ayo says it's been a cocktail .

"Well,I should say that honestly I have and I am enjoying my work because of team work and cooperation from my colleagues and the community that we work with but that doesn't mean that I don't face challenges,just that I am solutions oriented and I choose to focus on the positives" she said

In her one year of service Ayo has been touted as one of the best performers because of her agility, commitment and precision in executing her achievements.

Most notably Ayo has been at the apex of community mobilisation on government development programs and those aimed at wealth creation and poverty alleviation such as the parish development model,GROW and Emyooga among others.

Ayo is also known for being active on local FM stations to rally the community to embrace programs of government on health such as immunisation and environmental protection.

Ayoos Journey to leadership 

Ayoo went to St Paul Primary School in Ngetta for her elementary education,later attended Lira Town College for O’level and St John’s SS Nandere for A’level and would later graduate with a bachelors degree in BBA/Accounting and a Diploma in Business Studies.

In 2011,Ayo began her political career at a young age as a female youth councillor in Lira district

Action Coalition for Development and Environment- ACODE then rated her as the best performing councillor in 2012, 2013, and 2014. 

In 2015, she was voted as a general secretary of NRM women’s league, Lira district. In 2016, she also contested as woman MP Lira district and conceded defeat.”

In 2018, she served as vice chairperson of the Lira district Women’s Council and was also appointed acting chairperson of the Lira City Women’s Council for two years.
