As the countdown to the NRM Delegates Conference in Kampala continues ahead of the 2026 general elections, Moses Tumwekwatse—a vibrant and committed NRM cadre—has gained significant momentum in his bid for the position of National General Secretary for the NRM Workers League.
Currently in the West Nile region, Tumwekwatse has received overwhelming endorsement from delegates who have praised his pro-worker agenda. His message, centered on improving workers' welfare, ensuring safety in workplaces, and lobbying for employment opportunities, has resonated deeply with the grassroots, making him a popular choice among party faithful.
Delegates attending his meetings have not only pledged their full support but have also promised to deliver a block vote for both Tumwekwatse and President Yoweri Museveni.
While addressing delegates, Tumwekwatse urged members to remain loyal to the NRM and ensure the party secures victory at all levels in the 2026 elections. "We must stand united behind our party and our President. Every NRM candidate deserves our support to ensure continuity and stability," he said.
Tumwekwatse is no stranger to Uganda's political landscape. Known for his dedication and unwavering service to the party, he has been a powerful mobilizer for President Museveni over the years. He assured workers that their concerns would be presented and discussed at the highest levels of the party, including the Central Executive Committee (CEC), if elected.
After wrapping up his engagements in West Nile, the hopeful General Secretary is expected to continue his campaign in the Acholi and Lango sub-regions, where he reportedly enjoys similar levels of strong support.
As the Workers League prepares to choose its next leader, Tumwekwatse’s message of inclusion, empowerment, and advocacy for the working class continues to gain traction across the country.
