Apac NRM Leader Okabo Urges Voters to Back NRM Flag Bearers in Women Council Elections Nationwide

Apac District, Uganda: Apac District NRM Chairperson Hon. Talib Okabo has urged voters across Uganda to support NRM flag bearers contesting for women council leadership positions, from the village level to the national level.

Speaking to journalists by telephone, Okabo, who is also a prominent NRM mobiliser, said the party has produced leaders capable of mobilising communities, connecting people to government programmes and contributing to social and economic development.

He urged women voters to carefully choose leaders who understand the challenges affecting women and are committed to advancing their interests through effective representation and participation in decision-making.

According to Okabo, electing NRM flag bearers would strengthen the party’s grassroots structures while improving the connection between communities and government development programmes.

 “NRM has produced quality leaders who can deliver development and represent the interests of women. I therefore call upon voters to put their confidence in our flag bearers at all levels,” Okabo said.

He said women leaders have an important role to play in mobilising communities to embrace government programmes aimed at improving household incomes, supporting women’s economic empowerment and strengthening community development.

The women council elections are scheduled for **Monday**, with candidates expected to compete for various leadership positions, including speakership positions.

The elections are part of Uganda’s efforts to enhance women’s participation in leadership and governance. Elected representatives are expected to advocate for issues affecting women, children and communities while working with local authorities to promote development.

Okabo also called upon candidates, supporters and voters to maintain peace and respect the electoral process, regardless of their political affiliations.

He encouraged successful candidates to work together after the elections to address challenges affecting women and communities, saying development should remain a shared responsibility.

### Apac NRM Ready for the Elections

Okabo said the NRM leadership in Apac District is fully prepared for the women council elections and has already selected its flag bearers to represent the party at different levels.

He called on NRM supporters to remain united, mobilise voters peacefully and support the party’s candidates throughout the electoral process.

He further urged the party’s women leaders to focus their campaigns on issues affecting women at the grassroots, including economic empowerment, access to government programmes, education, health and participation in community decision-making.

Okabo said the election of strong women leaders would not only strengthen political representation but also contribute to the broader development agenda at the grassroots and national levels.
