 Lira, Uganda — Ebenezer University in Lira has officially opened admissions for its highly successful In-Service Study Program , calling on teachers across the region to urgently take advantage of this opportunity to upgrade their qualifications and enhance their professional skills.

Speaking to journalists from his office, Esiana Joseph, the University Academic Registrar, confirmed that admissions are now open for the Diploma in Education (Primary & Early Childhood Education) as well as Bachelor’s degree programs tailored to support teachers who are already serving in the field.

According to Esiana, the In-Service Program has already demonstrated remarkable success, equipping teachers with modern pedagogical approaches, improved classroom management techniques, and a renewed commitment to academic excellence.

The new intake is scheduled to commence on December 6, 2025.

He further urged all eligible teachers to seize this opportunity, emphasizing that the program aligns with the National Teacher Policy (NTP 2019) , which requires all teachers in Uganda to hold a Bachelor’s degree by 2030. Failure to upgrade may affect future employment and promotion opportunities within the education sector.

Eligibility Requirements 

To qualify for admission, applicants must possess any of the following:

* O’Level Certificate

* Grade III Teaching Certificate

* Certificate in Early Childhood Development (ECD)

* Diploma in Education
