Body of Ugandan-born UK-based Doctor David Otim-Oyet, brother To Rtd Çol Olaka Arrives Ahead of Saturday Burial
Kampala, Uganda; The body of Dr. David Otim-Oyet (May He Rest in Peace), a Ugandan-born medical doctor who has been serving in the United Kingdom, arrived in Uganda today ahead of his official burial scheduled for Saturday, 23rd May, 2026.
His body was received at Entebbe International Airport by his closest family members and relatives, in a somber but dignified ceremony. Preparations are currently underway to ensure he receives a decent sendoff befitting his service to humanity.
Dr. Otim-Oyet was a blood brother to Retired Colonel Charles Olaka. He was a proud member of the Omolo Acol Odyek Onywal Iceng clan and a son to the late Rwot Oyet, a respected traditional leader in the region.
Tributes have been pouring in from colleagues in the UK, where Dr. Otim-Oyet served for over a decade, praised for his dedication to patient care and mentorship of young medical trainees. Family sources say he passed away after a brief illness, though further details have not been publicly disclosed.
The doctor will be laid to rest on Saturday at his ancestral residence in Tegony, Oyam North, Oyam District, in Northern Uganda. Family, friends, and local community leaders are expected to gather to pay their final respects.
