Wisdom High School Shines As Lango Sub-Region Prepared for National Post Primary Football Tournament

Lira, Uganda: As schools in the Lango sub-region gear up for the upcoming national post-primary football competition in Ngora District next month, Wisdom High School has made a commanding start by securing a crucial victory in their opening match. On Monday, Wisdom High School triumphed over Dr. Obote College with a hard-fought 1-0 win, despite being invited to the tournament at short notice.

The school's participation came unexpectedly due to a last-minute adjustment by tournament officials.

 Originally, Alebtong Comprehensive Secondary School was slated to compete in the regional contest. However, due to financial constraints, they had to withdraw. In response, the organizing committee extended an invitation to Wisdom High School from Kole District, recognizing their active presence and commendable performance in recent football engagements.

Within Kole District, Aculbanya SS emerged as the undisputed champion, followed by Father Aloysius SS in second place. Wisdom High School secured third position in the district football rankings, demonstrating their consistent growth and potential.

After Alebtong Comprehensive and Akii Bua SS withdrew from the competition, Wisdom High School was offered a spot. They eagerly embraced the opportunity, proving their strength and resilience on the field.

"There is high hope that Wisdom High School will continue its winning streak and represent the region in the national championship," said one of the football experts.

 Their latest triumph against Dr. Obote College has fueled optimism among their supporters, as they eye further victories in the competition.

Wisdom's High is maintaining their legacy, 

in the previous national post-primary championship held in Masaka City in 2024, the school finished in 11th place among 64 participating schools—a remarkable achievement reflecting the institution's commitment to sports excellence.

Over the years, Wisdom High School has gained recognition as a formidable contender in both academics and sports. The school's continuous efforts to balance education and extracurricular activities have established it among the top-performing schools in Uganda.

Leadership Speaks on the Victory

Mr. Ambrose Ogwal, Executive Director of Wisdom High School, expressed immense pride in the team's success. "This win is a great motivation for our players. It encourages them to compete with determination and strive to walk away with the championship trophy," he stated.

He further emphasized that Wisdom High School prioritizes a well-rounded education, ensuring students excel in sports while maintaining high academic standards. The school's commitment to holistic development has made it a reputable institution known for producing well-rounded graduates.

As the tournament progresses, fans eagerly anticipate Wisdom High School's next performance, with hopes of securing a position in the prestigious national competition. Their unexpected rise in the regional tournament has drawn admiration from football enthusiasts and solidified their status as a school of excellence.
