IMPACT CREATED : Iteso Cultural Union Partners with Fountainhead Institute, Lira to Boost Education 

Lira, Uganda | The Luo Natives – The Iteso Cultural Union has entered into an agreement with Fountainhead Institute of Management and Technology, Lira, a leading academic institution in northern Uganda known for promoting science-based courses.

During the engagement meeting at the institute's campus in Lira City, Mr. Tom Okao, the principal of Fountainhead Institute, expressed his gratitude to the Iteso Cultural leaders for their accepting the  partnership aimed at promoting education. He highlighted that the bursaries align with the institution's financial support policy for students.

Renowned for its dedication to training students in technical education for a positive livelihood, the institution is offering bursaries to Teso students through their cultural leaders. Students from the Teso community with poor financial status, recommended by their cultural leaders, will be admitted under sponsorship and pay half the fees compared to private students.

Okao emphasized the need to collaborate in promoting quality education to ensure that children can compete with students nationwide.

The agreement was signed on February 5, 2025, between the Iteso Cultural leaders and Fountainhead Institute in the presence of Tekwaro Lango leaders, led by Speaker Willie Omodo Omodo. 

In his speech, Obilan Abubakar Umar, the Minister of Education and Sports for Iteso Cultural Union, welcomed the partnership, stating it aligns with their mission to promote education and reduce high school dropout rates, currently at 78% in the Teso sub-region. Hon. Obilan assured that the cultural institution will mobilize students for this opportunity.

Qualifications: Letter from a clan leader in Teso, ability to learn, and endorsement from Iteso Cultural Union.

Courses: Electrical, Tailoring, Building

Community Polytechnic Certificates

Qualifications: PLE Result slip, letter from a clan leader, and endorsement from Iteso Cultural Union

National Certificate

Qualifications: UCE Certificate or Junior Certificate, letter from Iteso Cultural Union

Courses: National certificate in Building Construction, Plumbing, Electrical Installation and Maintenance, Fashion and Design, Agriculture (Crop Production), Mechanical

National Diploma

Courses: Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Plumbing, Mechanical Engineering, Fashion and Design

Qualifications: UACE Certificate or its equivalent, letter from Iteso Cultural Union
