The Arak Okwero Cobo Clan Confirms Swearing-In Ceremony for Awington Odepe Simon

Lira, Uganda — August 25, 2026: The Arak Okwero Cobo Clan under Lamgo Cultural Institutions has officially confirmed October 17, 2026, as the date for the swearing-in ceremony of its newly appointed clan head, Awington Odepe Simon.

The confirmation was made today, August 25, 2026, as members of the clan continued preparations for the ceremony, which is expected to bring together clan members, elders, cultural leaders, local leaders, relatives and invited guests.

The swearing-in of Awington Odepe Simon is expected to mark an important moment in the leadership and cultural affairs of the Arak Okwero Cobo Clan, as the new clan head assumes responsibility for guiding the clan and promoting unity among its members.

Clan elders and members are expected to use the occasion to highlight the importance of preserving cultural values, strengthening unity and promoting peaceful coexistence among members of the community.

The October 17 ceremony will also provide an opportunity for clan members to formally recognise the new leadership and reaffirm their commitment to working together for the development and wellbeing of the clan.

Speaking the Minister for Culture, Peter Alol said as the Cultural Institutions they are aware of.the development and his tasks will be to prepare and train the clan chief on the process of swearing ceremony. 

Clan chief, Simon Peter Odepe thanked his people for electing him. He rallied members to turn up for the event.

The event will be presided over by H.H Eng. Moses Michael Odongo Okune will installed him as the cheif.

Further details regarding the venue, programme and other activities for the swearing-in ceremony are expected to be communicated by the organising committee as preparations continue.

The Arak Okwero Cobo Clan has therefore invited its members and well-wishers to mark October 17, 2026, as an important date for the installation and formal swearing-in of Clan Head Awington Odepe Simon.
