BREAKING: Transformative Opportunity for UCE Certificate Holders as The Leading Victoria School of Nursing and Midwifery- Lira Opens July 2026 Intake

LIRA CITY, UGANDA — Hundreds of holders of the Uganda Certificate of Education ( UCE) now have an opportunity to pursue careers in the health sector following the official opening of the July 2026 Intake at Victoria School of Nursing and Midwifery, Lira.

The institution is inviting qualified applicants from Uganda and across the East African region to enroll in its accredited nursing and midwifery programmes. The courses are designed to equip students with practical skills, professional competence, and hands-on clinical experience to meet the growing demand for qualified healthcare workers in Uganda and beyond.

Speaking during the school's weekly media briefing, the Institutional Director, **Dr. Isaac Orec**, said the institution remains committed to producing highly skilled, ethical, and compassionate health professionals capable of delivering quality healthcare services.

"We provide students with experienced tutors, well-equipped learning facilities, practical clinical training, and supervised hospital placements that prepare them for today's dynamic healthcare environment," Dr. Orec said.

He urged eligible UCE and UACE graduates not to miss the opportunity, noting that nursing and midwifery remain among Uganda's most respected and marketable professions due to the increasing demand for trained health workers in both public and private healthcare facilities.

Dr. Orec further explained that applicants from outside Uganda are welcome to apply, but their admission will be subject to verification and clearance of their academic qualifications by the relevant authorities, including the Ministry of Education and Sports and other regulatory bodies where applicable.

While Diploma programs Extension is required to have completed certificate in Nursing, and Certificate In Midwifery respectively with a mandatory two years working skills.000

He noted that Victoria School of Nursing and Midwifery continues to register impressive performance in the Uganda Health Professionals Assessment Board (UHPAB) examinations, reflecting the institution's commitment to academic excellence and quality professional training.

To expand access to medical education, the school is also offering bursary opportunities to deserving and financially disadvantaged students, enabling more young people to pursue careers in nursing and midwifery.

Located in Lira City near the modern Akii-Bua Stadium currently under construction, the institution has become one of Northern Uganda's emerging centres for health sciences education, attracting students from different parts of the country.

Beyond academic excellence, Victoria School of Nursing and Midwifery says it is dedicated to nurturing competent, disciplined, and compassionate healthcare professionals who will contribute to strengthening Uganda's healthcare system and improving the wellbeing of communities across the region.

Applications for the July 2026 intake are currently open, and prospective students are encouraged to apply early as admission is conducted on a competitive basis and available spaces are limited.
