Inomo Clan Hails ‘Transformative’ Leader, Vows Unity Amid Warnings on Misuse and Unwarranted Land Sales
By Ronald Alele Ongwech
LIRA CITY – Members of the Inomo clan have declared themselves “stronger than ever” and fully united behind their clan head, Mr. Frederick Ogwal Oyee, who also serves as the Interim Wonyaci of the Lango Cultural Foundation. The declaration came during a high-profile Clan Council Meeting held on Saturday 6th June 2026 at Palm Gardens Hotel in Lira City, where speakers issued a firm warning to leaders who are finding it difficult to adapt to modern ways of managing clan issues to either step aside or risk isolation from those they purport to be leading.
In a rare show of cross-generational solidarity, Elders, Members of the Executive, Clan Chiefs, Youth Leaders, Women Leaders, Advisors and representatives of Special Interest Groups in the Clan unanimously praised Mr. Ogwal Oyee as a visionary and transformative leader who has moved the clan far ahead within a very short period.
The strongest message came from Col(Rtd) Dan Opito Odwee, the Head of all the 19 Inomo Clan Chiefs who directly addressed those attempting to divide the Inomo clan as part of their wider scheme to divide and split clans in Lango for their selfish interests.
“Anyone who wants to divide Inomo clan should think again. They should give space to our Awitong, Frederick Ogwal Oyee, to do the work that the clan members elected him to do” Mr. Odwee declared to a round of applause.
He further cautioned that the clan’s leadership would not tolerate any chief engaging in land sale processes without the explicit authorization of the Awitong’s (Clan Head’s) office. “The Awitong has already issued clear instructions to the leadership of the clan at all levels on how they should handle clan issues that come to their dockets”Mr. Odwee added, urging the Inomo people to prioritise educating their children, taking care of their health, engage in productive agriculture, and avoid selling off land for unproductive activities.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Ogwal Oyee outlined key achievements registered since he took office mid 2023. These include:
- Composing Inomo Clan Anthem making it the pioneer clan in Lango to do that;
- Training Chiefs, Jagi and other leaders in modern management of clan issues;
- Training of selected clan members in farming of perennial crops with particular emphasis on Cocoa and Coffee;
- Mobilization of Inomo Women in promoting cultural activities and practices especially among young girls;
- Issuing of certificates of good conduct and achievements to Inomo elders and personalities who have promoted the good name of Inomo clan in their various fields, among others.
“Do not go into fights the origin of which you do not understand”, the Clan Chief warned.
Instead, he urged his clan members and the broader Lango community to embrace commercial agriculture, adopt the four-acre model to fight household poverty as advocated by His Excellency the President. He specifically recommended poultry rearing as one of the sustainable sources of improving household income. He also urged clan leadership to embrace Government community focused programmes such as PDM. He said the clan can only implement its development plans when its members have reasonable incomes.
Mr. Ogwal Oyee also condemned lawlessness, calling on his clan members Lango people generally to be law-abiding citizens. On land, he was unequivocal: “Land is a very important factor of production. It should not be sold anyhow unless agreed by clan leaders or by all family members.”
Throughout the meeting, two themes dominated: education for children , health, agriculture and unity of clan members, saying unity of the clan is its strength.
Speakers repeatedly contrasted the clan’s current strength with past divisions, crediting Mr. Ogwal Oyee’s leadership for the turnaround.

- The clan Chief also appreciated the roles played by clan members when they joined hands with other clans in giving a befitting send- off for the late Paramount Chief of Lango.
